Submission: Group members will PM their Spirit Leader a link to their work. The Spirit Leader will collect all Group member submissions and email them to the Lead Moderator by 11:59 PM PDT on April 30. The submissions should be made by either:
Judging: All work will be judged by Alex and Esther. Winning work will be announced on the Forums in May. |

Big Picture
Group members will have the opportunity to create a public presence for their Group by creating a Group website.
The goal of the challenge is to expose all participants to all of the skills required for crafting a successful online presence, namely effective marketing, intentional design, and web technologies. You can get help and feedback from friends, family, and those in your Group, but each member should work on his/her own website. No combined submissions please.
Additionally, each Group member is welcome to create any number of websites for practice, but should submit only one to his/her Spirit Leader for Group judging and judging in the overall competition.
This Special Challenge has 3 parts:
Step 1 - Learn (3-6 hours)
Complete the following 3 free courses regardless of prior experience with the topics (i.e., you have to do these courses to take part in this Special Challenge):
Step 2 - Create (5-10 hours)
Content
Using the skills you learned above, create a basic website for your Group. Your website must include the following:
A Group logo - you can create this using any image editor you'd like, such as the following (all free):
3 basic pages:
Hosting
You can create a website from scratch and host it on a service similar to the following - just don't get bogged down in the technical details often associated of doing hosting yourself:
Alternately, you can design your website from a template and host using services like the following:
Step 3 - Vote
Each Group will vote on which website they feel best represents them. When and how this is done is up to each Group, but it needs to be done in time for each Group's Spirit Leader to submit all websites per the instructions and deadline above.
The website that each Group votes best represents them will be linked to on the homepage of this website.
Alex and Esther will then choose the best overall website - the winner! This can be any of the websites submitted, not just the ones the Groups have voted they like best.

- HTML & CSS Basics - Teaches basic HTML/CSS skills and concepts
- Basic Internet Marketing - Covers basic internet marketing (with an emphasis on Google AdWords, which you won't need to use)

Using the skills you learned above, create a basic website for your Group. Your website must include the following:

- Home - An attractive, informative landing page for your Group's website
- About - What your Group stands for, its goals, etc.
- How it Works - Information on officers, Group functions, etc.
- You're free to add anything else you'd like beyond that!
